01Who we are
A partnership built to empower Sumatra.
PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) is a joint venture between China Huadian Hong Kong Company Limited (CHDHK, 55%) and PT Bukit Asam Tbk (45%). Founded on 5 September 2012 and in commercial operation since 7 October 2023, HBAP operates Tanjung Lalang Power Plant (Sumsel-8 MMCFPP) — a 1,320 MW (2×660 MW) mine-mouth supercritical power station in Tanjung Lalang, Muara Enim, South Sumatra.
Built on a USD 1.68 billion investment under a 25-year build-own-operate-transfer agreement with PLN, it is the largest mine-mouth power station in Sumatra's electricity system and a designated National Strategic Project (PSN).

A leading Indonesian state-owned coal producer and member of MIND ID, the national mining holding — securing the dedicated mine-mouth coal that fuels Tanjung Lalang Power Plant for its full operating life.

Two companies, one mark.
The HBAP logo joins the two companies behind the station into a single mark. Every element of it is defined in the Company Identity Manual.

Logogram — from CHD
Taken from the mark of China Huadian Corporation (CHD). The form was developed from the CHD name and symbolises a strand of rope — meaning strong force.

Logotype — from PT Bukit Asam
The wordmark of PT Bukit Asam Tbk, the Indonesian shareholder. Joining the CHD logogram to the PTBA logotype forms a single strong unit — showing industry momentum, the cohesion of energy, and solidarity between the two parents.

Typography — the company name
“Huadian Bukit Asam Power” is set beneath the lockup to complete the company identity. The manual also permits the logo to be used without this line, and it still represents HBAP.

08Our journey
From agreement to world-class operation.
2012
Company founded
HBAP established (5 September). Coal Supply Agreement with PT Bukit Asam and a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with PLN signed.
2018
Construction begins
EPC contract signed with China Huadian Hong Kong; Financial Close reached in June, marking the start of construction.
2019–22
Building the station
Construction progresses from 29% to 97%, with the Power Purchase Agreement side-agreement and operating procedures finalised with PLN.
2023
Commercial Operation
First synchronisation to the Sumatra grid (July) and Commercial Operation Date on 7 October 2023.
2024
First full year
One year of stable operation and the first minor overhaul of Unit #1.
2025
Recognised & reliable
Two years of operation, handover of special facilities to PLN, major overhaul of Unit #2, and multiple national & international awards.

Tanjak & Batik — culture that welcomes.
Tanjak
The tanjak is a traditional men's headdress made from a long piece of songket cloth, folded into the shape of a crown. As a heritage of the Nusantara — especially the Malay and Palembang communities — it is not merely an accessory, but a symbol of identity, authority and the dignity of the wearer.
Batik
Wearing an exquisite design of Indonesian batik, the mascot offers a warm welcome to everybody while embodying the rich tapestry of our various backgrounds — a symbol of unification that embraces the beauty of Indonesia's cultural mix with wide-open arms.
