Introducing the energy sector to SMA/SMK students together with PLN.

Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) collaborated with PLN in holding an electrical education event on November 24, 2025, at the SMK Negeri 3 Ogan Komering Ulu Auditorium, Baturaja. This activity was attended by students from SMK Negeri 3 Ogan Komering Ulu and SMA Negeri 1 Ogan Komering Ulu, as well as the Regent of OKU, teachers, and employee representatives from PLN and PLTU Tanjung Lalang.

During this activity, students gained an understanding of how a coal-fired power plant works, the process of electricity generation, and an introduction to solar power plants as part of efforts towards cleaner and more sustainable energy. The PLN team also presented material on transmission and distribution systems, complete with safety education such as the dangers of flying kites near high-voltage lines and the importance of maintaining a safe distance from electrical installations. All material was presented in an easy-to-understand manner so that students could visualize how electricity works from the power plant to their homes.

Not only technical matters, the students were also equipped with soft skills needed in the world of work, ranging from communication, discipline, to professional ethics. The hope is that this training can help them be better prepared to face competition in the energy industry and other sectors.

Assistant II of the Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Government, Mr. Hasan HD, also expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity, by saying:

“We would like to express our deepest appreciation to HBAP and PLN for working together to provide educational programs, competency development, and a stronger understanding of the world of electricity and energy for our students.”

Manager of PLN ULTG Baturaja, Sugandhi, added to the spirit of collaboration:

"PLN and HBAP are collaborating enthusiastically to light up the country. We provide materials that can broaden the students' knowledge, ranging from the electricity generation process by HBAP to understanding the benefits and safety of transmission from PLN. HBAP is currently the largest power plant supplying around 1,200 MW to the PLN system. Hopefully, activities like this can be sustained and the knowledge gained today can be applied for our safety and future together."

Through this program, HBAP reaffirms its commitment to remain present in the community through meaningful activities. Beyond operating power plants, the company aims to make tangible contributions to the younger generation in its operational areas, particularly in enhancing energy literacy and electrical safety awareness.
