PT HBAP Concerned and Committed to Repair Lengi River Bridge in Darmo Village

Darmo Village, 6 July 2021. Some time ago, the condition of the Lengi River bridge in Darmo Village, Lawang Kidul District, had made the community facing difficulty for transporting their plantation products since the old bridge supporting poles being badly damaged, while the pole on the new bridge also suffered cracked due to being exposed to water during the rainy season. The difficulty faced by people passing through was also exacerbated by the condition of the damaged road so that the mobility of the community was hampered, and the road was difficult to pass on.

Currently, the use of the Lengi River bridge has returned to normal. PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power ("PT HBAP"), which also frequently uses the bridge, felt responsible for initiating the rebuilding of the Lengi River bridge and and repairs them with a stronger design so that the bridge can last for a long time and the community can cross the bridge more easily. The old bridge was rebuilt and devoted for two-wheeled vehicles, while the new bridge was repaired and devoted for four-wheeled vehicles.

Badri, Darmo Village Official who represented the Village Head that attended the handover ceremony for the Lengi River bridge, said that he thanked PT HBAP for rebuilding the old bridge, as well as repairing the new bridge and the damaged road so that the only access for the community to go to the garden and to transport plantation products are back to normal and without experiencing any difficulties.

The same thing was also conveyed by Mr. Alfajri, as Kadus (The Village Chief) of Darmo Village, by rebuilding and repairing the bridge, the community could pass safely and comfortably, because 80% of the people of Darmo Village who have gardens use this access to go to and return from the garden.

Meanwhile, PT HBAP's Public Relations Officer, Tito Francisco, said that the rebuilding of the old bridge and the repair of the new bridge is a form of PT HBAP's responsibility and concern for the surrounding villages, "We hope that the bridge can be maintained and cared together so that it can survive for a long time, if possible, forever", Tito continued, "The company used to use this road and bridge to carry heavy materials, but now all the materials needed had arrived at the power plant, we ask for prayers and support from the Darmo Village community so that the Sumsel-8 Mine Mouth Coal Fired Power Plant Project could run smoothly and achieve the company targets”.

Ahmaf Syafei, a resident of Darmo Village who happened to be passing by was also giving his comments, “This bridge had been broken since two months ago. Thank God, it has been good now. It will be easier for us to cross the bridge to bring our crops and I hope this bridge could last for a long time,” he said.
