PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power runs the Beat Plastic Pollution Program

Tanjung Lalang, 05 June 2023 - In commemoration of World Environment Day 2023, PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) held a ceremony to commemorate World Environment Day, which was followed by the signing of the K3L policy at the PLTU Tanjung Lalang (already known as the 2 x 660 MW South Sumatra - 8 Mine Mouth Coal Fired Steam Power Plant).

"To support this activity, HBAP together with all the companies working in the PLTU Tanjung Lalang area, are committed to maintaining safety and reducing plastic pollution," explained by Site GM HBAP Gusti Anggara.

This activity was attended by representatives of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Huadian Group, all HBAP personnels, and all project workers involved in PLTU Tanjung Lalang area.

HBAP Director of Commerce Anita Parma said that plastic pollution is a real threat that impacts every community worldwide. This plastic pollution plays a role in three crises that hit the earth: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Most plastic waste in the oceans is generated by land pollution sources by humans.

HBAP invites everyone in PLTU Tanjung Lalang area to do small things that can later have a more enormous impact, some of which are using reusable beverage packaging to reduce plastic waste from beverage packaging and sorting waste to make it easier to do recycling.

"I want to emphasize the importance of the active participation of every individual here. Every employee has a role in creating a positive environmental culture. Encourage compliance with environmental policies, invite colleagues to propose sustainable ideas and innovations, and make small daily efforts to reduce our environmental impact," said by PTBA VP Environmental Management & Mine Support Amarudin.

In addition to inviting them to reduce plastic pollution, HBAP and all project partners also held a tree planting at several points in the HBAP office park. Plant seeds include Starfruit, Mango, Guava, Longan, and Red Shoots.

At its peak, Vice President Director of HBAP Dody Arsadian, through the statement of HBAP Corporate Secretary Nike Destia, invited all parties involved in the project to protect the surrounding environment and manage plastic waste along with the process of welcoming COD that is safe, secure and of high quality.
