Officially Operated, PLTU Tanjung Lalang Strengthens Sumatra Electricity

Sumatra gains additional supply from the 2×660 MW Sumsel-8 mine-mouth power plant — also known as PLTU Tanjung Lalang — which reached its Commercial Operation Date on 7 October 2023, as set by PT PLN (Persero).
Tanjung Lalang - Sumatra Island received additional electricity from the Sumsel-8 Mine Mouth Steam Power Plant with an installed capacity of 2X660 MW (PLTU MT Sumsel-8). The plant, also known as PLTU Tanjung Lalang, reached the Commercial Operation Date (COD) on October 7, 2023, and that date has been set by PT PLN (Persero). The COD achieved on October 7, 2023, indicates that the Tanjung Lalang PLTU has been operating commercially with all units installed.
The presence of PLTU MT Sumsel-8, which is part of the 35,000 MW Power Plant Development Program located in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province, is expected to provide benefits in bringing electricity reliability to the island of Sumatra and giving help and goodness to the community.
The entry of the Tanjung Lalang PLTU into the Sumatra Grid will make the energy supply stronger, especially with relatively cheap tariffs that will bring good to the country.
