PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP), as the owner and manager of the Sumsel-8 PLTU, continues to be committed to providing real contributions in supporting sustainable development in the company's operational areas.
As part of its support for the Muara Enim Regency government program, PT HBAP has contributed to the healthy toilet construction program, which is a mandatory sanitation facility for every household.
Data shows that there are still many people in Indonesia who do not have healthy toilets and still use rivers as toilets. This is also a major challenge in improving sanitation.
To answer this challenge, PT HBAP has implemented innovation in the construction of healthy toilets by utilizing Fly Ash and Bottom Ash (FABA), a by-product of the coal combustion process at the Sumsel-8 PLTU. FABA is used as a substitute for conventional sand material in the construction of healthy toilets, which not only provides a cost-effective solution but also contributes to sustainable industrial waste management.
The use of FABA supports efforts to create a cleaner environment, while also addressing the problem of poor sanitation that can have negative impacts, such as:
1. Decreasing environmental quality due to water pollution.
2. Contamination of community drinking water sources.
3. Increased incidence of diarrhea and other environmental-based diseases.
Through this program, PT HBAP supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), specifically:
1. SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Reducing the risk of disease and improving public health through access to proper sanitation.
2. SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Increasing access to safe and sustainable sanitation and clean water.
3. SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Utilizing industrial waste responsibly to support sustainable development.
With this innovative approach, PT HBAP not only provides solutions to sanitation challenges, but also demonstrates a commitment to better environmental management. We hope that this program can provide direct benefits to the community and become a real step in creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable life.
