South Sumatra, Indonesia – June 2026 — PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) commemorated World Environment Day (WED) 2026 and Production Safety Month 2026 through a series of initiatives that reflect the company’s commitment to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, employee well-being, and sustainable operations at the Sumsel-8 Power Plant.
Guided by the belief that reliable operations must go hand in hand with safety and environmental responsibility, HBAP utilized this occasion to further strengthen its safety culture while promoting environmental awareness throughout the organization.
As part of the World Environment Day commemoration, HBAP organized a variety of environmental initiatives involving employees both at the Sumsel-8 Site and the Jakarta Office. At the power plant site, employees participated in an environmental clean-up campaign that began along the Enim River, particularly around the plant’s water intake area, and continued with waste collection activities along the access road leading to the facility. Meanwhile, at the Jakarta Office, the company organized a plant distribution activity for employees as a simple yet meaningful campaign to promote environmental awareness and encourage greener lifestyles in everyday life.
Through these initiatives, HBAP seeks to cultivate a culture of environmental responsibility that begins with small but sustainable actions. For the company, environmental stewardship is not only an operational responsibility but also a shared commitment to supporting sustainable development.
At the same time, HBAP officially launched its Production Safety Month 2026 under the theme:
“Everyone Talks About Safety, Everyone Responds to Emergencies – Identifying and Mitigating Risks and Potential Hazards.”
Throughout June, the company organized a variety of activities aimed at strengthening safety awareness and preparedness, including Safety Promotion Campaigns, Diesel Fuel Tank Fire Emergency Response Simulations, PPE and Fire Extinguisher Skills Competitions, Safety & Emergency Response Knowledge Competitions, and other safety-focused initiatives.
HBAP also conducted an Employee Mental Health Awareness Seminar under the theme “Healthy Mind for a Safer Workplace.” The seminar highlighted the importance of psychological well-being as an essential component of workplace safety, recognizing that a safe workplace is shaped not only by procedures and equipment but also by healthy and engaged employees.
Extending the spirit of safety and well-being beyond the workplace, HBAP organized a Community Education Program on Early Stunting Prevention for surrounding communities. The initiative reflects the company’s belief that sustainability encompasses not only safe operations and environmental stewardship but also support for healthier and more resilient communities.
The commemoration became even more meaningful as HBAP received the Zero Accident Award from the South Sumatra Provincial Department of Manpower, recognizing the company’s outstanding safety performance and commitment to maintaining high occupational safety standards.
Since achieving its Commercial Operation Date (COD), HBAP has recorded more than 1,000 consecutive days without a lost-time accident, demonstrating the effectiveness of its safety management system and the collective commitment of employees and business partners toward workplace safety.
During the opening ceremony of Production Safety Month 2026, Chen Xingyu, President Director of HBAP, emphasized that safety remains the foundation of the company’s sustainable development. He noted that safety is not merely an operational target but the lifeline of the company. While the achievement of zero accidents is a source of pride, it should serve as a starting point for continuously improving safety standards, strengthening risk management, and ensuring every employee is prepared to respond effectively to emergency situations.
HBAP believes that workplace safety, employee well-being, and environmental protection are interconnected pillars of sustainable operations. Through the commemoration of World Environment Day and Production Safety Month 2026, the company reaffirmed its commitment to responsible business practices, safeguarding its people, and creating positive impacts for the environment and surrounding communities.
Guided by the values of collaboration, responsibility, and continuous improvement, HBAP will continue strengthening its safety culture and sustainability initiatives in support of delivering reliable energy for Indonesia while creating long-term value for stakeholders.
